Having my tonsils removed

Well...its been a long 4 days at my end of the world.

On Friday August 12, I had my tonsils removed. I ended up having to be admitted because I wasnt coming out of the anesthesia very well.

Two of my daughters were there with me throughout the whole experience. But went home  in the evening.
The girls tried their hardest to distract me and they did a very good job at it too.

When I was coming out of the anesthesia, they both said I was talking with a southern accent and that I  was  walking to Mississippi which I told them was 2 miles away. Oh and I was going to New Orleans.

Today is Monday. Was a pretty rough day for me. I was so nauseated and had a  headache from Hell.  Tonight I am feeling so much better.

After this past few days, I hope I never have to eat jello again!!! I hated jello before surgery and hate it still.

Making Lists

I have a tendency of making lists. and then  following it. It could be a grocery list, a list of phone calls that I need  to make, shopping list for Joann's, chores I need to do..etc...etc.

And then I don't follow them or I forget to take them with me. So maybe I should just make a permanent BUCKET LIST.

And here is my bucket list for right now.....Don't deny that you have a similar bucket/to do list because if you do...your nose will grow like Pinochio's lol

1. Finish blouse I am making myself.
2. Finish a quilt a long called Summer Solstice.
3. Put backing on a quilt top I made for my daughter for her birthday 3 years ago. (I 4 qui)
4. Put backings on 4 quilts Ive made for Project Linus.
5. Finish a quilt that I am using gorgeous fabric for (I spelled the word gorgeous wrong. Its a line of fabric) that I should have made a year and a half ago.
6. Finish hand sewing a king size hexagon quilt onto its backing fabric...its just one big huge hexagon flower that Is all hand sewn. Ive been working on that for over a year.
7. I am machine quilting 4 blocks for a 24 inch dresden plate.
8. Put a back on a mystery quilt I made called Scrap Dance Tango

Oh I am pretty sure I have a few more projects I have forgotten about.

But I figure that if I were to finish all my projects I would go nuts with nothing to do. And so that is my reason for not completing my UFO projects.

And what is on your list?

Surgery is scheduled

Today is Wednesday August 3, 2016. I am scheduled to have my tonsils removed next Friday August 12, 2016 because my left tonsil is  huge. Its so huge that it blocks almost  my total airway. The surgeon says he believes its benign but will send it to the pathologist to have it biopsied just to make sure that it isnt cancer. Im a bit nervous about  the surgery but more worried about the pain I will be in. He also said that removing tonsils in adults is much more painful then it would be for a child.
Im not sure yet if I will stay a day or so since I am an insulin dependent diabetic. I wont know till the day of surgery.
Because the adenoids, tonsil and ear share the same nerve I will most likely have a severe earache. That is what has me worried the most is the earache. The last earache I had was when I was 13 years old and one that I will never ever forget. Compare it to natural childbirth and I would take childbirth any day over an earache or a toothache for that  matter.

I am going to Brendas in the morning and I will stay at her house until Sunday late afternoon. It will probably be the last time I will be able to go there for a couple of weeks till I get to feeling better after surgery. I will miss her dearly as she is my best friend. I wont be able to talk but very little but one good thing is we both have email so that will most likely be our communication.

Brenda and I learned how to do our very very first link up for a website.  We had such a blast figuring it out. We learned how to post pictures. We both are so happy.

Summer Solstice Quilt a Long with Melissa from Happy Quilting

I am doing a quilt a long with a friend of mine named Brenda. Shes the one that got me to do it as I have never done a quilt a long.

Here are the first two steps we have done so far.

Half square triangles

Flying geese

I spend most weekends spending the night at Brendas and we sew and sew and sew and in between all of the sewing we do eat but we mostly laugh. When we have to use our buddies to rip out our many mistakes we laugh and tease each other (we kindly named hers  Mr. Blue and mine is Jack) We are both disabled and we met back in October of 2015 at a Project Linus meeting. We hit it off right away and hope to be friends for the rest of our lives.

Our next  step in the quilt a long is August 4th in which we will make the drunkards path.

Daughters birthday present

Im not too good at keeping up with this blog. I don't know why either.  I will try to do better.

So lets see.....I am working on an owl wall hanging for my daughters birthday on June  11. hard to believe that she is going to be 37 this year. I am still placing the owls, leaves, acorns, wings and feet on it. Im going to spend a few days at Brendas so hopefully I can work  on it.

Well today was a good day. Brenda and I  finally got to sew today. We were both just as happy as a kid in a candy store.
We worked on a set of potholders. Brenda finished hers but I didnt finish mine. Maybe friday or saturday  if I go over there. Hate the end of the month.
Im pretty   bushed tonight as I only got about  2 hours sleep last night. So I am signing off.
Goodnight

Brenda and I are wanting to make potholders.  For months we have been wanting to make some new potholders as Brendas are wearing out.

Funniest thing though...what should have taken us an hour or so has already taken about 5 1/2 hours!!! And were still not done with the TOP!!!  We made some booboos that had us laughing so much that was some great medicine  for us both.

Here is a picture of one of my booboos
Geez look at the sewing and there were even LINES I just had to follow and that didnt happen.

Here are Brenda and I working on a potholder.

We had a great time sewing today even if we had to quit early because of storms. Boy was the thunder loud. I am afraid of thunder and lightning and was glad I was at Brendas. She was the smart one of us two...when the thunder kept happening she got up unplugged hers and my sewing machines and the iron to make sure  they werent damaged if the storm  was too bad.

Tomorrow Brenda and I get a gel manicure. We both are excited about it. They are free because a friend of mine gave me two gift certificates. And I wanted to treat Brenda to something nice so I invited her to get one done. Im sure we will post pictures tomorrow.

Hey its me....Im still here!!!!   I woke up on the green side of the dirt this morning. And it is such a good feeling.

Today was a nice sunny day again here in Grants Pass Oregon. Spring has sprung and I love it.

This past week Brenda and I got alot accomplished. And it did help that I stayed over for 2 days. First night we went to bed at 1:45 in the morning!!!

The second night we climbed on her bed and watched a movie and had snacks and we were both asleep by 10 pm. We both were totally worn out.

Brenda taught me how to machine applique and I had a blast. The first thing she taught me was a heart..and then for practice, I decided to try letters

Not too bad for just learning.

And here is a dresden  plate that I machine appliqued around the tops of the blades.

Here is a picture of my heart quilt to give to Project Linus. As I was tying it, I sat down and just stared at this quilt. And I kept looking at it for a good 15-20 minutes if not longer trying to decide what it needed. Well, I figured it out....

It needs something on it....something like a saying and I have decided to put this saying  on the red sashing....Everyday is a gift.  It really jumped out at me and I have never had that happen.Who knows maybe  whomever this blanket goes to may need to read that. This is the first time that Ive ever felt I needed to put a saying on it.

This past friday I was able to go to a yard sale with a friend and I struck the gold mine I think I did anyways....Brenda and I are going to start making wreaths. And at this yard sale I came across these little craft boxesfull of beads and things that  we can use on the wreaths  AND for the three boxes with all the goodies cost me $2.00!!!!

Well thats about all folks for now. Have a great week.

Monday, April 11, 2016

Well today is the beginning of the week. I dont know  why so many people hate Mondays I like them.

This is going to be a long week as I wont be going to sew at Brendas until  Thursday. Thursday seems so far away.

My last day sewing with Brenda was Saturday and she was teaching me how to machine applique and I had so much fun. Cant wait to do some more on Thursday.

Friday is our Project Linus monthly meeting. I really enjoy going and seeing all of the blankets that our members make and donate.  I have several quilt tops finished that I just need to put backings on which is the part I hate the most.

I have a minion quilt I need to finish tieing to send to my step sister for her 3 year old grandson who I guess is in love with the minions.

Today it was a bit cooler temperature wise today I think in the mid 60s And the sun was shining nice and bright up in the sky.

Hi everyone.

Today is a lazy day for me. My get up and go has gotten up and went but it forgot to take me with it.

With the help of Brenda a bit ago, she was able to walk me over the phone on how to ask to join the
Scrap Dance Tango Mystery 2 group on fliker and how to add pictures. Brenda is a smart cookie. Or at least I think so.

A couple weeks ago Brenda, Kevin and I were at a yard sale and I found 2 wooden Lazy Susans and bought them for $1.00 each. One for me and one for Brenda. I've seen people on quilting tutorials using a little mat that swivels and that is why I thought these would work and I didn't have to pay $40 or more for it..
I had this little cutting mat and I just taped it onto it. It sure made trimming the little blocks a whole lot easier. Brenda has a lip on hers  so she got a piece of wood and wrapped it in foil and put a cutting mat on hers. Hopefully Kevin will be able to sand that rim off. But even if he doesn't she says shes happy with the way it is.

This is me trimming up  a 2 1/2 inch square on it
Here is my completed step 4 blocks. I can not hardly wait to see what this quilt is going to look like.

My quilt I think is manly looking as I am hoping it is. I'm making a lap size.

Today it is beautiful outside. The sun is shining  I can here the birds singing a distant dog barking and horn honking. I can feel the slight breeze coming through my bedroom window. I love spring weather as its not too hot nor is it too cold.

Im adding Brendas link to her blog to my blog, mainly so I can find hers easier.

Scrap Dance Tango Mystery Quilt 2016  Thats the name of the mystery quilt. I called it something else. Thanks Brenda for bringing that to my attention. And forgive me Carole.

Yes you only had 4..and I had all 32 of mine to rip out. I"ll be needing a new Jack soon.

Today is beautiful and sunny and comfortable heat wise. I hope everyone had a beautiful day.

I have an old sewing machine that I believe is a signature sewing machine. Brenda played with it over the weekend and it works the motor sounds fine.  But there's an issue with it that I cant remember what it was but it had something to do with the bobbin. Ill have it looked at in a few weeks by a service man and his wife that makes house calls. I will keep that one at Brendas house and bring my Singer Quantum home to sew on.

I suffer from occasional insomnia and tonight is one of those nights. I get really bored on the computer as I dont know what to do on it. I only go to a couple of websites.

Hopefully at the end of the week my best friend Brenda and I will go and have a manicure compliments of a friend. I have to remember to call the salon tomorrow to make an appointment.

All is quiet here in the house.Occasionally I will hear someone snore or a distant car or the dreaded ambulance siren. Neither of them bother me.

I cant wait until we get clue #4 of the mystery scrap dance tango mystery quilt that Carole is doing. You really really should check out her web site. She posts all sorts of different things from recipes to quilting....just all sorts of other things. She lives in the Carolins  and for the pictures she posts Its a beautiful area.

If you want to join in on the mystery quilt go to Caroles website you won't regret it or at  least I havent. Heres her site  https://frommycarolinahome.wordpress.com/

Well I think I am ready to fall asleep. Its 3 in the morning

Hi Everyone. I am new at this blogging stuff so if something doesn't make sense you will know why.

A little bit about me.

I am 55 years old and disabled and also visually impaired and can no longer drive. I live with one of my daughters and her boyfriend. I have no pets of my own but they each have a dog. One is Bear which is 9 or 10 years old and is a corgi. The other one is a pure white German Shepherd who is 4 years old and her name is Annie.
I don't have my own pet because I would probably forget to feed it and it would die. That's what has happened to the 2 fish my other daughter gave to me. It took me exactly one week for them to die. Same goes with plants. And therefore I have come to the conclusion that the only reason Bear and Annie are still alive is because they don't belong to me. LOL

My hobbies include making quilts for a charity called Project Linus. Our group is small about  15 women. Our coordinator Nancy is the best. She is very organized with everything that has to do with Project Linus and has worked her rear off getting donations of fabric, batting, thread and yarn and anything else we need  as she doesn't want making quilts and afghans for Project Linus to be a burden on any of us for supplies. Kudos to Nancy and to everyone involved. It is all very very appreciated.

Several days a week and ALWAYS on Saturdays my friend Brenda, her husband Kevin comes into town 20 miles roughly round tripto pick me up and take me totheir house so that Brenda and I can sew together. I can't express the gratitude that I have to Kevin for doing this for Brenda and I. Brenda is my best friend and I am hers.

Brenda asked me to do a mystery quilt with her a few months ago and I said yes, And so we are doing it together. The mystery quilt is with Carole from "From my Carolina Home" and is called "Mystery Scrap Dance 2"https://frommycarolinahome.wordpress.com/author/fnpcarole/

I hope anyone that reads my blog will  go and check out her site. It is a very  nice site and there is so much that she does and is kind enough to share it with others.

Here are a few pictures of my progress so far.

They were sewn wrong LOL but now are correct but this is what they are supposed to look like except the solid square...those are black and not different color....thats because Brenda and I boo booed...but we sure did have so many great laughs over that.

Here are a few quilts that I have made.

The picture of the horse belongs to my youngest daughter. Her horse is 32 years old and loves for my daughter to dress her up like this. This is Halloween 2014. And is an Elmers Glue Stick.
